Beauty Care is a course which consists of beauty therapy and hairdressing. S3 and S4 both take part in this for a period of two years. They all learn to wash, dry, style, cut and colour hair during the two years of hairdressing. During the two years of beauty therapy they learn to wax, tint, do facials etc all the skills a beauty therapist needs to acquire. Below we have two interviews, an interview with a teacher who teaches beauty therapy and a pupil’s view on the course. Teacher interview Q. What made you want to teach beauty therapy? A. I have always been interested in beauty therapy and I wanted to pass on my skills to other people. Q. Do you enjoy teaching it? A. Yes, I enjoy it very much. Q. What does the course consist of? A. The course consists of health and safety, reception duties, assists in facial treatments and assists in manicure treatments. Q. What Qualifications do pupils get at the end of the course? A. The pupils achieve a grade of level 1 beauty therapy nvq/svq. Q. What would you like to be shown on the school website about this subject? A. I would like people to be shown how interesting this subject is. Student Questions Q. Why did you pick beauty therapy? A. I picked Beauty therapy because I was very interested in becoming a beauty therapist. Q. what kind of work do you do? A. I do Nails, waxing, facials, massages and tinting. Q. Do you enjoy it? A.
