In October 2004 the school received the Motorola Gold Award for Enterprise in Education. This was the result of the school's success with activities aimed at preparing young people for the demands and challenges of the modern industrial society. Programmes such as careers education and work experience are already well established in the school. Newer initiatives include the launch of enterprise and vocational courses from S3 to S6 and the introduction of activities intended to promote health and environmental awareness throughout the school community.The award itself is currently on display in the school foyer.
