St Andrew's Day Events
Staff and pupils associated with Andrew House organised a number of events to celebrate St Andrew’s Day and raise funds for St Andrew’s Hospice.
Thistle brooches were sold around the school and staff enjoyed a coffee morning to the skirl of the bagpipes. Many thanks to Mr Jim Hughes for his excellent piping!
6th year pupils, Jamie Super of OLHS and Diane Currie of Dalziel HS organised an inter-school basketball match, and would like to thank both schools and all the parents who bought tickets and supported their event. The final score isn't really very important (but we lost!).
A cheque for £223 has been donated to St Andrew’s Hospice.

Men should weep
Higher Drama pupils enjoyed a visit to the People’s Palace for a workshop on Ena Lamont Stewart’s “Men should weep”. The day provided insights into the lives of ordinary people in 1930s Glasgow and invaluable background for one of the Scottish texts being studied by the class. |

King Lear
The school played host today to HND students from Coatbridge College's Acting and Performance Department. The students' performance of Shakespeare's King Lear in the School Theatre was watched by an appreciative audience of Higher English and Higher Drama pupils.
The performance was a huge success for students studying the play in English as well as understanding ways in which the play could be staged for the Drama students.
Formal links are now being established between the College and our own Drama Department to ensure further ventures can happen as well enabling progression routes for students who wish to extend their studies with Drama. |

Gold Award for Schol Band
The school band is delighted with their Gold Award from the National Concert Band Festival Scottish Finals.
The competition was held at the Caird Hall in Dundee in November and included bands from across Scotland. The Our Lady’s High School Band is now invited to the National Festival in Gateshead in March.
The National Concert Band Festival celebrates each band's performance rather than judging between them. While there can be more than one band receiving Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merit awards, very few are invited to participate in the annual National Festival. The OLHS band are therefore very proud at receiving this honour. |
