Sinclair House fundraising

Sinclair House has a number of fund-raising activities happening this week.

Firstly, staff and pupils are invited to a cake and candy on 13th December, followed by a second hand Book Fair in the Library Resource Centre the next day at lunchtime.

Pupils and staff have been donating books and videos for the last couple of weeks now but more are welcome.

Staff will also be able to browse the remainder of the books at their coffee morning on Friday 15th. All funds raised are being donated to the Poor Clares.

2007 Calendars - on sale NOW!

The Calendar Company has started to sell their calendars - available at the bargain price of £4.99.

The company has “employed” a number of school staff to dress up as celebrities and the school has been flooded with posters bearing huge question marks asking, “Who will be who?” As all staff involved have been sworn to secrecy, the rest of the school is left wondering…

The company launch inspired many staff to become shareholders in the new venture, gaining confidence from the fact that The Calendar Company have already invested heavily in their own project.

The Calendar Company are taking order in an English corridor near you. Don't miss out!

Spanish excursion

5th and 6th year Spanish pupils are looking forward to their dinner at Amigos tapas restaurant in Hamilton, at which they can sample some Spanish culture and show off their accents.

Many thanks to Mrs Kerr for organising this trip.

Clydeview Party

The annual party for Clydeview School was held on Friday 8th December. Each year, the 6th year pupils fundraise and organise this party themselves, providing presents and food, decorating the room and even arranging a special visit from Santa, flown in esecially from Lapland - no expense spared.

Congratulations to all those involved on another fantastic event.

Sponsored Spellathon

The English Department have been working with S2 pupils for a sponsored Spellathon on 7th December. Each class have been given a list of words to learn according to their abilities, ranging from “their” to “lackadaisical”.

Some pupils demonstrated such a high standard that the competition moved on to a knockout stage in order to find the best speller in the class.

The English Department decided to raise money on behalf of the Congolese families coming to North Lanarkshire in the New Year.

The Spellathon has been so successful that other year groups are clamouring to have their own competitions annually.

Christmas Cards

Congratulations to Nicole Donnelly, 1M on her award winning design for the Our Lady’s High School official Christmas card.

The whole of 1st year enters this annual school competition through the Art Department. As usual, the work produced demonstrated a very high standard and a huge commitment from both staff and pupils.

The top five designs, currently on display in the school foyer, are available for purchase from the school (£1.50 per pack - see designs here). Nicole's design will featured on every card sent by Our Lady's this Christmas.

Many thanks to the Art Department for all their hard work on this project, especially Ms Steinert for pulling it all together, and to the Admin staff for printing off the cards.
