Kenny gives us the facts on the build.

"Work on construction started on June 16th 1994 and was completed in May 2001...a total period of 7 years. The Black - Five model was based on a full size Black - Five which was supplied new to CARSTAIRS loco depot. in July 1948. After its construction at Horwich Loco-works.  Unfortunately, the Locomotive was scraped in 1966 along with various other steam locomotives."
Coal Storage and engine controls

Based at Carstairs, the 7 1/4 gauge locomotive was built in dedication to the drivers, firemen, fitters and other artisan shed staff, who would have serviced and repaired the engines big sister.
