Learning Intentions

Through practical activities, using different foods and drinks, I can identify key nutrients, their sources and functions (HWB 3.31a)

I can independently select ideas and relevant information for different purposes, organise essential information or ideas and any supporting detail in a logical order, and use suitable vocabulary to communicate effectively with my audience (LIT 3-06a/LIT 4-06a)

Investigation

Our bodies need 5 main nutrients to survive.

Protein
Carbohydrates
Fats
Minerals
Vitamins

Your task is to research these 5 nutrients and find out:

  • What does it do for your body? (Function)
  • At least ONE food which contains each nutrient? (Food sources)
  • Any other information you think is relevant or important.

Your project should include pictures, diagrams and any other material you think is useful.

You can make your project as long as you like, but all of the information should be relevant.

You will need to use a lot of different sources of information, including websites, books and leaflets.
